How do English numbers 1–100 work?

Learn one to nineteen first. Next, remember twenty, thirty, forty, and the other tens. Join a tens word with one to nine for numbers such as twenty-one.

What is the difference between thirteen and thirty?

Thirteen is 13 and ends in -teen. Thirty is 30 and ends in -ty. Listen for the final sound and practise the pair aloud.

Is 40 spelled forty or fourty?

The correct spelling is forty. The word drops the letter u found in four. Fourty is not the standard spelling.
