Start with one helpful trick

Words ending in -teen are often stronger at the end, as in thirTEEN. Words ending in -ty are usually stronger at the start, as in THIRty. Listen to 13 and 30, then try 14 and 40, and 15 and 50.

Listen for the ending: thirTEEN is strong at the end, while THIRty is strong at the start.
